What is Canopy?

Canopy is an AI-powered competitive-intelligence platform that monitors your competitors automatically and turns what changes into briefings, battlecards, and alerts. It tracks competitor websites, pricing, reviews, job postings, news, and social media so your team always knows what competitors are doing without manual research. Everything runs on autopilot, checking for changes every 6 hours. Learn more on our competitive intelligence overview.

What sources does Canopy monitor?

Canopy monitors competitor websites and pricing pages, reviews on G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, and Product Hunt, job postings across 8 applicant-tracking platforms, news coverage, technology-stack changes, and social media across 6 platforms with sentiment analysis and engagement alerts. Each source is checked automatically, deduplicated, and summarized by AI, so you see what actually changed rather than raw noise.

How often does Canopy check for changes?

Canopy runs a monitoring cycle every 6 hours across all your tracked competitors and sources. Changes are automatically detected, deduplicated against what you've already seen, and summarized by AI before they reach you, so you get a clean signal instead of a firehose of raw updates. Daily, weekly, and monthly briefings then roll these changes up on whichever cadence you prefer.

How do AI briefings work?

Canopy's AI briefings summarize everything that changed across your competitors on a daily, weekly, or monthly cadence, delivered by email and in-app. Quarterly and yearly strategic reports are available on the Agency plan and up. Briefings are context-aware: they remember what you've already been told, track ongoing storylines over time, and highlight what's genuinely new instead of repeating old information.

What are battlecards?

Battlecards are AI-generated, per-competitor profiles built from the data Canopy collects, including a SWOT analysis and a summary of how each competitor positions itself. Because they're generated automatically, they stay current without manual upkeep. On the Agency plan and up, battlecards can be shared via link or exported to PDF for sales enablement and deal reviews.

Pricing & billing

How much does Canopy cost?

Canopy has three monthly plans. Starter is $79.99/mo for 3 competitors, 1 seat, and 1 workspace. Agency is $249.99/mo for 10 competitors, 5 seats, and unlimited workspaces, and is our most popular plan. Scale is $599.99/mo for 100 competitors, 100 seats, API access, white-label reports, and priority support. All plans are billed monthly with no setup fees; see the full pricing page for details.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Every Canopy plan is month-to-month with no long-term contract, and you can cancel anytime from Settings. When you cancel, you keep access through the end of the billing period you've already paid for, so there's no immediate cutoff and no cancellation fee. Billing is handled through Stripe.

Is there a free plan or trial?

Canopy doesn't offer a free tier. Every plan is a paid monthly subscription, and a card is required at signup, but there are no setup fees and you can cancel anytime, so there's no long-term commitment. The lowest-cost option is the Starter plan at $79.99/mo, covering 3 competitors on 1 seat — a low-risk way to see if Canopy fits before scaling up.

What's the difference between Canopy and enterprise tools like Crayon or Klue?

Crayon and Klue are enterprise platforms sold through sales-led annual contracts that, per third-party buyer guides, typically cost five figures a year. Canopy is self-serve with published monthly pricing starting at $79.99/mo, so you can sign up and start monitoring competitors today without a sales call or annual commitment. See detailed side-by-side comparisons on our Crayon alternative and Klue alternative pages.

Data & ethics

Where does Canopy's data come from?

Canopy collects only publicly available information about your competitors: their websites and pricing pages, public review profiles on sites like G2 and Capterra, public job postings, news coverage, and public social media activity. Canopy's scrapers respect robots.txt, and nothing is pulled from private systems or from anything gated behind a login you don't control. Read more in our privacy policy.

Is competitive monitoring legal and ethical?

Yes. Monitoring publicly available information about competitors, such as pricing pages, reviews, job listings, and news, is a standard business practice used across industries. Canopy does not access private systems, use pretexting, or misrepresent its identity when collecting data. Its scrapers respect robots.txt and stick to information any member of the public could find on their own.

How is my account data handled?

Your account data, including login credentials, workspace configuration, and billing details, is hosted and processed in the United States. This is separate from the publicly available competitor data Canopy collects, which comes only from public sources and respects robots.txt. Full details on what's collected, how it's used, and how it's protected are in our privacy policy.
